Review: Black Mirror

I’m on the second season and really adore these self-contained episodes. They’re produced and acted very well. The stories have just the right mix of tech and instinctual behaviors. The social commentary found in these episodes will leave you wanting more. Don’t get too wrapped up, there are only 6 episodes on Netflix.

How can we begin the best possible care to our highly variable economic landscapes, in which no two woodlands, no two farms, and no two fields are exactly alike?

I find this question to be applicable to my pondering of education. How can we care for our children, protect their uniqueness, if we’re so concerned with their uniformity?

The public education system serves to promote one agenda, not even the agenda that most of adults seek for their lives. We’ve stopped asking the questions that need to be asked (like the one above), instead rely on criticism without action as our form of activism.

Like Wendell Berry, I agree that we need to have a better understanding of our variable nature. In doing this we can begin our work on building our education around our treasured human character.
